Some cylinder manufacturers now produce bottles which require the regulator to be connected to the bottle from the side.
The 90° adaptors allow bottom entry regulators to be used on side entry systems thus keeping the regulator the right way up so that the pressure control knob and gauges are always in view.
These adaptors are available in RH and LH versions.
