FAQs

Do self-tapping screws work in masonry?

Yes! Self-tapping screws work in masonry and concrete. They come with a self-tapping high/low thread feature that provides excellent pull-out resistance in masonry, concrete, brick, stone, block and even wood materials.

Can I drill concrete screws directly into concrete?

Yes, you can drill concrete screws directly into concrete, but it's crucial to do it correctly for a secure and lasting hold. The 6mm diameter pilot hole is perfect for drilling into harder materials such as concrete.

How to fix masonry screws?

Before you attempt to drill into masonry, make sure you’re wearing safety glasses. Once prepared, grab your hammer drill and drill the correct depth pilot hole (find precise measurements in manufacturer’s instructions). Align the screw with the hole and drive it in using a screwdriver then tighten the fixing until secure.

Can self-tapping screws be used in concrete?

While some screws are made for concrete, they're not quite "self-tapping" in the traditional sense. You must drill a pilot hole for them to work correctly. Trying to drive a concrete screw directly into concrete without a pilot hole will almost certainly lead to failure.
