Threading Taps & Dies

Taps and dies need to be manufactured out of a metal that is harder than the material they are going to apply threads to. High Speed Steel (HSS) is common as it will tap mild steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Cobalt taps and dies are preferred for stainless steel.

How does Click and Collect work?
  • Free Service: There’s no charge for using Click and Collect.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Depots: You can collect from any of Protrade’s five depots: Derby, Burton-on-Trent, Chesterfield, Mansfield, or Nottingham.
  • Speed: If the item is in stock, it will be ready for collection within 10 minutes of placing your order.
