Hard Hats & Head Protection

One of the most common and easily recognisable pieces of PPE (personal protection equipment) is a Hard Hat, sometimes referred to as a site helmet. The Hard Hat is a mandatory piece of PPE on virtually every construction site and is also becoming commonplace in environments such as warehouses and distribution centres. Head injuries can occur from falls, items and debris falling from height, and situations where an individual bangs their head when walking under scaffolds, racks, and other low-level hazards. It is critical that when working in these environments, you should protect yourself at all times. 

There are other design features which can be considered, such as Ear Defender mounting points and inbuilt safety visors. As regulations and requirements for individual sites or premises may vary, it is important to check that your Hard Hat and other personal protective equipment meet the specifications. Products such as Bump Caps may have a hard shell and will protect the wearer from minor cuts and bumps, but they should not be confused with a Hard Hat or Safety Helmet.
