Blades for Cast Iron
Cast iron has always been difficult to cut and is usually left as a job for an angle grinder and suitably equipped blade. Unlike ductile steel which easily forms chips that are ejected during the cutting process, cast iron breaks down into highly abrasive fragments that wear the cutting tool prematurely causing early blade failure.
Diamond grit coated recipro blades have always been the best type of blade to cut cast iron as the grit is highly resistant to abrasion and heat. Due to the filing action of this type of blade, cutting time is extended. Inventors of the Recipro saw, Milwaukee, have now introduced specialist carbide tooth blades which speed up the cutting operation in difficult to cut materials such as cast iron. Large, well supported carbide teeth are able to scoop out more material with the reciprocal action of the saw and the carbide tooth formation resists wear from abrasion and heat far greater than any Bi-Metal equivalent giving users long service life and performance in one blade. Protrade stock Milwaukee and Lenox recip blades for cutting cast iron and other abrasive, non-chip forming materials.
