Trumpf
Trumpf power tools are known the world over for specialising in tools for the metalworker. Trumpf’s original business was manufacturing flexible shafts which were used to attach various tools to a stationary motor. The shafts were initially produced for dental and printing applications but the development of the motorised drive system made it possible to take the concept into other industries, namely wood and metal processing.
Introducing the first motor driven hand shears in 1934 was the first step in establishing Trumpf as a leader in sheet metal manufacturing tools. Just 13 years later Trumpf introduced stationary curved shears which become a key focus for the company.
Taking the repetitive punching technique used on their larger stationary machines, and adapting it to suit a portable hand-held tool, enabled Trumpf to manufacturer their first portable nibbler. A similar adaption of punching also facilitated the introduction of the portable plate beveller for which Trumpf are still famed for today.
Further developments have since seen Trumpf become a manufacturer of lasers and have a strong presence in CNC automated equipment used for sheet metal processing.
