Base Plates & Cantilever Arms
Strut and channel framework systems may need to be established from the floor which is where channel baseplates are essential. Designed to accommodate single and double channel sections, baseplates provide a box section or angled bracket for the channel to sit into which is then secured using a channel nut and set screw.
Some base plates are designed to rest on the floor relying on the weight of the installation to keep them in place, other base plates have pre-drilled fixing holes so they can be anchored to the floor using mechanical and chemical fixings. Cantilever arms, are in effect, pre-cut lengths of channel which have been welded onto a back plate with fixing holes, enabling them to be attached to strut channel systems using channel nuts and set screws. Cantilever arms are commonly used for mounting cable trays, air conditioning units and other equipment to strut installations and structural steelwork. Base plates and cantilever arms are hot dip galvanised for corrosion protection. Protrade only select strut and fittings from reputable manufacturers to ensure traceability and safety.
