Coach Screws
Coach screws can be described as a large, hexagon headed version of a woodscrew using a similar, coarse thread. They are commonly used for joining large structural timbers together but can also be used in conjunction with nylon plugs to give a very strong fixing in masonry.
The latest coach screws now include a flanged, hexagon head with inbuilt washer which helps the underside of the head to sit flat onto the base material and reduce surface damage. Type 17 points, sometimes referred to as slash points have a notch cut out of the screws tip which allows the modern coach screw to pick up more quickly and reduces the chance of splitting when inserted into timber. Coach screws are ideal for use in Joinery, modular building, electrical and construction trades and are easily driven in using a hand ratchet, cordless drill or impact driver. Protrade stock a range of coach screws with diameters ranging from 6mm – 12mm and lengths from 40mm – 130mm featuring a yellow passivated coating for corrosion protection.
