Countersinks for Wood
Countersunk woodscrews always look better when sat in a correctly sized, countersunk pilot hole. A dedicated countersink neatly cuts away the surface of the material for the head of the screw to sit in and avoids the crushing and displacement of the timber as is the case when the screw is simply allowed to pull its way in.
Maxitek countersinks for wood are size specific and feature a Tungsten Carbide cutting edge to give clean cuts and long life, even in abrasive board materials such as MDF and Plywood. They are specifically designed to be used in applications where two materials are to be joined together as they use a drill bit which creates a clearance hole for the screw threads to pass through the top timber without engagement. A smaller pilot hole needs to be drilled into the second timber which will prevent splitting upon the screws entry but still allow the threads to bite into the substrate, pulling both components firmly together and avoid ‘jacking’.
Maxitek products are designed for professional use and are only available from Protrade.
