Blades for Ceramics & Fibreglass
Materials that are ‘anti chip-forming’ include ceramics, cementitious boards, fibreglass and cast iron. When cutting these materials, small fragments break away from the substrate before they have left the cutting tool which has a very abrasive effect on the blade and dramatically increases blade wear.
Jigsaw blades designed to cut these abrasive materials have a cutting edge that is made from tungsten carbide which can be in grit formation or a toothed configuration. Grit cutting edges are ideally suited for ceramic tiles, cast iron and fibreglass as the cutting edge remains in contact with the base material preventing cracking and splintering. Jigsaw blades with tungsten carbide teeth are well suited for cutting cementitious boards as the space between the teeth gives effective waste removal producing faster cuts. Protrade stock carbide grit and carbide tooth jigsaw blades from Lenox and Milwaukee.
