Height Safety

One of the biggest causes of workplace injuries and fatalities is falls from height. Working at height can be deemed as having to work above ground or floor level, falling from an edge or through an opening/fragile surface or even falling from ground level into an opening in a floor or hole in the ground. As you can determine from this list there are plenty of opportunities for one to suffer personal injury caused by a fall from height, which is why height safety is a critical consideration in any working environment. If risk assessments determine that there is no other possible way to carry out necessary works, despite a fall risk being present then height safety equipment needs to be in place. Safety harnesses can feature multiple attachment points allowing users to connect suitable fall restraint, fall arrest, ascent/descent, and even evacuation equipment to the harness optimising safety whilst allowing the operator to proceed with work unhindered. If you regularly work at heights you may be required to wear a safety harness throughout the working day which is when comfort is supremely important. Working at height may require other personal protective equipment to be used exclusively for this purpose such as safety helmets that feature a chin strap.
