Reusable Respirators & Filters
If you are frequently exposed to dust, vapours and gases you will of course require some form of respiratory protection. A safe and cost effective solution could be a reusable respirator. Unlike a disposable respirator, reusable masks can be worn repeatedly until they become damaged or start to allow contaminants to enter the facepiece.
Typically, reusable respirators are based around a half or full mask and require replaceable filters to be attached. The filter may focus on a specific contaminant – for example dust, although it is not uncommon for replaceable filters to offer protection from different types of airborne contaminants in a combined filter.
Another type of reusable respirator is a fixed filter, 28 day mask. The concept of these respirators is to offer respiratory protection for 28 days, after which the entire mask is disposed of. Contrary to a reusable respirator, this type of mask does not need to have a date of issue or maintenance record, as the filters are bonded in place and the facepiece is disposed of after a relatively short period of time. The regular replacement program of 28 day respirators, offers users a hygienic and cost effective solution to respiratory protection.
