In April 2021, Festool reduced the kerf of their plunge saw blades, on both the corded and corded plunge saws – from 2.2mm to 1.8mm. These thinner blades cut much faster, reduce the load on the saw’s motor and also extends the battery runtime of the cordless saws. Unfortunately, the old and new blades are not interchangeable between old and new models of plunge saws, due to the corresponding thickness of the riving knife, so always check the blade kerf when replacing an old plunge saw blade. It’s no surprise that dust is bad for you, and it’s incredibly important that you protect yourself from dust at all times. If you have ever embarked upon a DIY project such as fitting a new kitchen, bathroom or simply re-decorating, a common complaint is the amount of dust it generates.
Festool has long been regarded as a one of the best portable dust extractor manufacturers on the market. Their entire range of power tools always considers the removal of dust at source and extraction outlets are designed into rather than added on to the tool.
This premium power tool manufacturer regards the dust extractor as the foundation of any power tool system, as it not only promotes safe working but also makes for a convenient transport device once other power tools are secured on top of the extractor using Festool systainers.
If you are using the extractor at construction sites, a smaller and more compact machine is considerably easier to carry. The CTM MIDI or CTM 26 by Festool are suitable for this purpose, for example.
CT-SYS, CTL MINI, or MIDI Festool extractors are recommended for light drilling work, cleaning loose dirt and carrying out repairs or cleaning work at construction sites. To find out more about which class of dust extractor you may need click here.
Festool has also put together an incredibly useful guide to advise you which dust extractor you should buy, depending on the work you’ll be carrying out. To check it out, click here.
