Screwdrivers & Wrenches
Electric fastening tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches save hours of installation time, reduce fatigue and in the case of self drilling screws actually make the fastening operation possible because of rotation speed. Protrade offer a range of electric screwdrivers that are designed to efficiently drive drywall screws, self drilling screws and woodscrews into building materials such as wood, metal and cement based boards.
These electric screwdrivers feature a clutch system which allows the motor to remain on, only engaging the drive mechanism when the screwdriver bit is depressed to insert the screw. This allows fast and repetitive screwdriving without the need for the trigger to be pulled for each and every screw insertion which would quickly lead to operator fatigue and repetitive strain. Depth sensitive screwdriving is an essential feature for specialist drywall and Tek screwdrivers; drylining screws are easily over countersunk which can damage the plasterboard and Tek screws used for cladding installation have a neoprene washer to seal the fixing hole from water, if the Tek screw is driven in too far the washer is crushed which can lead to leaks. Drywall screwdrivers and Tek screwdrivers have an adjustable nosepiece which disengages the drive bit as soon as the desired depth has been reached leaving screws accurately sunk into board materials and Tek screws adequately fastened without washers been over compressed. Electric impact wrenches are specifically designed to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts, even those with large diameter threads requiring high torque. Impact wrenches are capable of delivering bursts of high torque twisting action because they use an impact mechanism to deliver thousands of blows a minute to the fastener, similar to striking a spanner with a hammer which has been mounted on a nut. It is this hammer action which allows these relatively compact power tools to turn the biggest nuts and bolts, requiring virtually no effort from the operator. The physical size and torque capacity of an impact wrench is determined by the size of fasteners it has to turn. The square drive of a corded impact wrench accepts an impact rated socket which is connected to the fastener. Larger fasteners require more torque, which necessitates a larger diameter square drive to cope with the enormous twisting force it is exposed to. Square drives available include 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ with 3/8″ drive being limited to cordless tools. Protrade stock a comprehensive range of electric screwdrivers and impact wrenches saving time and effort on fastener installation.
